AS IS (November 5, 2021) – Today, the State of Colorado announced new features in the myVaccine Record portion of the myColorado ™ app, allowing users to check and share their immunization status using a SMART® health card, an internationally recognized standard.
The SMART® Health Card is a free digital version of the COVID-19 vaccination cards. It allows Coloradans to share proof of vaccination using a secure QR code. A QR code (or “quick response” code) is a type of barcode that contains certain information that can be read or interpreted with smart devices. This feature is optional for myColorado users on a subscription basis, and the information is encrypted to provide an additional layer of security.
This new functionality is based on records from the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS). “Fully vaccinated” will be displayed if a user has two valid Moderna or Pfizer vaccinations or one valid Johnson & Johnson vaccination. “Partially vaccinated” will be displayed if a user has a valid Moderna vaccine or a valid Pfizer vaccine. No personal data is collected on the user of the application. While this feature displays some personal data about the person presenting their SMART Health Card to check their COVID-19 vaccination status, no personally identifiable information scanned from the SMART Health Cards will be shared.
Coloradans can download their SMART® health card QR code at any time in the myColorado app. Once a myVaccine record has been created, residents do not need an internet connection to share their vaccination status. Apple iOS users will be able to import the SmartHealth card into their Apple wallet if they have iOS 15.1+.
