India currently only vaccinates adults over 18 against the coronavirus. India’s Comptroller General of Medicines (DCGI) last month gave Bharat Biotech a nod to conduct phase II / III clinical trials for its COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin in children ages 2-18 years.

The Serum Institute of India, which has partnered with Novavax for the production of its COVID-19 Covovax vaccine, is also reportedly looking to begin Phase II / III trials of the vaccine in children next month after obtaining approval from the drug regulator.
