How to download and install macOS Monterey 12.1 beta on your Mac

0

macOS 12.1 Monterey is officially in the wild – or at least for Apple developers. The update arrived just days after the official release of macOS 12.0.1. This guide is for installing the developer beta version of macOS Monterey. Want to download the latest public version of macOS? It’s a slightly different process.

Apple occasionally offers updates to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS as closed developer previews or public betas. While beta releases contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that may prevent normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac, and are not intended for everyday use on a main device. That’s why we strongly recommend that you stay away from developer previews unless you need them for software development, and use public beta versions with caution. If you depend on your devices, wait for the final version.

What’s new in the macOS Monterey beta?

While not as feature-rich as macOS Big Sur, macOS Monterey is packed with plenty of cool features, including an updated Safari app, Mac shortcuts, new features in Notes, expanded FaceTime features, and more. Again.
